SYNOPSIS

After being sentenced to die at the hands of the guillotine, Baron Frankenstein is saved, at the last minute, by his paid accomplices, a hunchback, Karl, and the executioner.

He leaves for Germany and sets up a practice in Carlsbruck where he goes by the name of Dr Stein. Here he caters to the whims of his wealthy clientele. He also sets up a hospital for the poor, not for charitable reasons but so he can get access to the body parts that he needs for his researches.

With his assistant Dr Hans Kleve and the hunchback Karl to help him, he plans to transplant Karl's brain into a new body. Karl gives his full approval to the operation, and it proves to be a great success. However, later when Karl is attacked by a violent nightwatchman his brain is damaged, and his body begins to change back into its former crippled state. The creature goes on a murderous rampage and the evil influence of Frankenstein is unleashed once again.

Karl crashes an evening reception, and pleads for Frankenstein's help, indiscreetly using Frankenstein's real name; he then collapses.

Frankenstein has to attend a meeting of medical councillors, as they believe that he is the notorious Baron Frankenstein. They exhume Frankenstein's grave and unearth a beheaded priest in the Baron's place.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Frankenstein is brutally attacked by his patients and left for dead. Kleve rushes the dying Frankenstein to the laboratory and begins to extract his brain for transplant into another body. When the police arrive, all they see is Frankenstein's dead body.

Epilogue: Some time later, in London, Frankenstein (now calling himself Dr. Franck) and Kleve welcome some patients.

REVIEWS

BritishHorrorFilms: A good reworking of an old story, and a good sequel to The Curse of Frankenstein.

Mondo-Esoterica: While inferior to The Curse of Frankenstein, it is different enough to be watchable and has solid direction and acting.

Timeout: A strange, blackly comic reworking of the Frankenstein myth.
